West Virginia University (WVU) is currently assessing the damage caused by severe thunderstorms over the weekend. On Sunday, March 16, WVU issued a Community Notice as teams from Facilities Management, University Police, Information Technology Systems, and other departments worked with Mon Power and external agencies to evaluate and address the impact on buildings, infrastructure, and operating systems.

Power outages were reported both on-campus and off-campus as of Sunday afternoon. For updates on power restoration, information can be obtained from Mon Power.

The WVU Data Center experienced service disruptions affecting various campus operating systems, including internet services. Restoration was expected by Sunday evening. In the meantime, University Police can be contacted at 304-293-2677 or 304-581-1993 for emergencies. Non-emergency reports can be submitted via the LiveSafe app.

Urgent facilities requests should be reported at 304-293-4357. Non-urgent requests can be emailed to FacilitiesandServices@mail.wvu.edu. Updates will continue to be shared through university channels as necessary.
