Due to adverse weather conditions, West Virginia University's Morgantown Campus will delay on-campus operations until noon on Tuesday, January 7. University employees are advised to coordinate with their supervisors regarding work assignments affected by the delay. Those with essential duties on campus should exercise caution when traveling in poor weather conditions. Employees working remotely or in a hybrid setup are expected to maintain their regular schedules.
Supervisors are encouraged to be understanding if staff members face difficulties reaching the campus. "Our focus is on the safety of members of the University community," stated University Police Chief Sherry St. Clair. "This delay for on-campus operations will allow more time for University, local, county and state officials to make progress on clearing area roadways, sidewalks and other areas of snow and ice."
Facilities Management will continue maintenance efforts into Tuesday. Some sites may remain closed or operate with reduced hours even after operations resume; it is recommended that individuals call ahead before visiting any location.
WVU Health Sciences faculty, staff, and students involved in patient care or clinical rotations should consult their dean or program director for guidance. The Visitors Center will remain closed.
University officials are monitoring reports from the National Weather Service alongside state and local conditions. Updates will be communicated through various channels including WVU Alert system, MIX email, MOUNTAINEER E-News, and social media platforms such as @WVUsafety on X and WVU Safety and Wellness Facebook.
Decisions concerning WVU Tech and WVU Potomac State College campuses will be made based on local conditions separately. WVU Extension follows its internal inclement weather policy available online.
The spring semester classes at West Virginia University are scheduled to commence on January 13.
