D&E Receives Votes in Atlantic Region Poll
The Davis & Elkins men's basketball team has received votes in this week's D2SIDA Atlantic Regional Poll after the release of the regional poll Monday morning.
Indiana (Pa.) received four of the six first-place vote and 58 points to top the poll. West Liberty (56 points) earned the other two first-place tallies. West Virginia State (43) rounded out the top three. Virginia Union (41), who was one of five nationally-ranked teams from the region last week, was fourth and East Stroudsburg (36) was fifth.
Winston-Salem State (31), Claflin (22), Lock Haven (18), West Chester (eight) and Concord (seven) rounded out the weekly rankings.
Davis & Elkins, Slippery Rock, and Virginia State all received votes outside the top 10. This is the first time in program history that the Senators have received votes in the D2SIDA Regional Media Poll.
The Senators went 6-1 to open their season, the best start for the program since 1989. D&E is 7-3 on the season, 3-3 in a tough MEC conference.
Next up, D&E travels to West Virginia State (8-1, 5-1) to take on the Yellowjackets tonight (December 13th) at 7:30pm. They then head to Daytona Beach, Florida for the Embry-Riddle Holiday Classic from December 16th-19th.
