Participants in West Virginia University's Day of Giving on March 26 will have various chances to enhance the impact of their donations through several challenges set for the day. The WVU Foundation organizes this 24-hour fundraising event as it marks its eighth year. The event covers the entire WVU System and has raised over $96 million since 2017.

Kristen Shipp, WVU Foundation Executive Director of Annual Giving, shared her sentiments about the event. "Mountaineer Nation has made a significant difference each year through their generosity on Day of Giving," she said, highlighting the importance of the funds for student programs, research, and campus improvements. "Your gifts are critical for enhancing student programs, groundbreaking research, improvements to campus, and more. We are grateful for your unwavering support."

Alumni and supporters can participate in challenges throughout the day that will unlock additional funds for their chosen areas within WVU. The event includes both day-long and hourly challenges. Participation and the amount of donations raised are key criteria for some of these hourly challenges.

On the WVU Day of Giving website, participants can find instructions and a comprehensive list of challenges. Additionally, to join social media challenges, users must use the #WVUDayofGiving hashtag and ensure their posts are publically visible.

Online donations can be made at dayofgiving.wvu.edu, where participants will also find live updates on challenge winners, leaderboards, and a donor wall. The event accepts gifts of $5 or more throughout the day.

In addition to the online activities, information tables will be available on campus on March 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Mountainlair and two locations at Health Sciences, namely the Market and Pylons. Faculty, staff, and students will have access to more information about the event, can make donations, and even enjoy a Flying WV cookie.
