AB Falls on the Road at Glenville State
Alderson Broaddus Men's Basketball fell to Glenville State on the road in Mountain East Conference play 118-77. As a team, the Battlers shot their second highest field goal percentage of the season, shooting 48.1%. However, the Pioneers had their best shooting night of the season, shooting 65% from the field and 52% from deep.
Zach Simpkins and Coryon Rice opened the game up for the Battlers with back-to-back threes. The two teams would go blow for blow in the first half all the way into the under five-minute media timeout. From there, Glenville would create separation using a 13-0 run late in the half.
The Battlers cut the lead back down to ten but a free throw and a layup by Glenville's Jordan Smith as the half was closing boosted the Pioneers to a 47-34 lead at the half.
Scoring runs for the Pioneers would be the story in the second half. AB kept the deficit at 13 early on with Jalen Collins knocking down a couple buckets in a row until Glenville was able to go on a 14-2 run thanks to multiple Jordan Smith makes to extend their lead to 83-55. The Battlers would not be able to climb back as the Pioneers steady attack became too much.
Zach Simpkins and Kobe Tigney would lead the Battlers in scoring with 14 apiece. Coryon Rice was consistent for AB throughout with 13 points, four assists, and five rebounds. Rye Gadd and Tahleik Walker both put up eight points and four rebounds for the Battlers.
