West Virginia University Police issued a Community Notice on Saturday after swift storms caused power outages across Morgantown. Facilities Management, University Police, and other teams are collaborating with Mon Power and external agencies to assess and address storm impacts on infrastructure and operations.

Several buildings on the Downtown and Evansdale campuses remained without power as of Saturday night. Updates on outages and restoration will be provided by Mon Power.

The WVU Health Sciences Center experienced a temporary power loss, during which backup generators were activated. Power was restored by 9:15 p.m., and Facilities Management continues to monitor the situation.

A barn at the WVU Animal Science Research, Education and Outreach Center suffered roof damage due to high winds, but there were no injuries to people or animals.

Emergency on-campus facility issues should be reported by calling 304-293-4357. Non-emergency requests can be sent via email to FacilitiesandServices@mail.wvu.edu.

For assistance, the WVU Police Department can be reached at 911 or 304-293-2677/3136. Other resources include the WVU CARE Team, Carruth Center, Division of Campus Engagement and Compliance, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Faculty-Staff Assistance Program, Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center, Office of Campus and Community Life, Student Health, and Division of Student Life.

Safety resources are available at safety.wvu.edu and police.wvu.edu. The community is urged to follow WVU Safety and Wellness on Facebook, @WVUsafety on X, and download the LiveSafe app for real-time alerts.
