Congressman Alex X. Mooney has been cleared of all allegations by the U.S. House Committee on Ethics. The committee's decision comes after a thorough inquiry in which Mooney fully cooperated.
In a statement, Congressman Mooney expressed his relief and gratitude: “I am grateful to announce that the long standing bipartisan U.S. House Committee on Ethics has fully dismissed all allegations raised against me following their inquiry in which I fully cooperated and answered all their questions."
Mooney criticized the origins of the allegations, stating, "It has been clear all along this was a politically motivated move from the separate Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE), which was created by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi in 2019." He added that he faced "baseless accusations – driven by politically motivated actors on the extreme left – since 2021" and expressed satisfaction that his name has been cleared.
The dismissal marks the end of an investigation that began in 2021, bringing closure to a series of events that Mooney claims were politically charged.
