West Virginia University Board of Governors Vice-Chair and Presidential Search Committee Chair Dr. Patrice Harris sent a letter to the university community on Wednesday, July 24, providing an update on the presidential search process.

Dr. Harris stated that significant progress has been made in the past month as they prepare to select the next president of West Virginia University. She announced the launch of a survey designed to gather input from the community regarding desired qualities in the next president and aspirations for the university. The four-question survey is available on the presidential search website at presidentialsearch.wvu.edu.

Earlier this month, the Presidential Search Committee held its first meeting where they reviewed their charge, discussed confidentiality, and outlined various phases of the search process. They emphasized hearing from all constituents and planned for listening sessions. Dr. Harris thanked committee members for their dedication to West Virginia University's mission.

The first Listening Session with Faculty Senate Leadership was conducted by WittKieffer partners, focusing on pride points, opportunities, and desired qualities in a new president. The session was described as honest and forward-thinking, highlighting participants' commitment to the university.

Additional Listening Sessions are scheduled for late August and September after the fall semester begins. These sessions will provide multiple opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and alumni to participate. Details will be shared through communication channels and posted on the presidential search website once finalized.

Dr. Harris concluded by encouraging Mountaineer Nation's participation in selecting their next president as their contributions are valued and instrumental in shaping West Virginia University's future.
