Rep. Alex X. Mooney took a firm stance against the $1.2 trillion partial government spending resolution passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. In his dissenting vote, he criticized the bill for funding what he referred to as "President Joe Biden’s liberal priorities" at excessive levels. Mooney's strong opposition to the bill was evident in his statement, where he expressed his concerns about the implications of the spending package.

Mooney highlighted various aspects of the bill that he found problematic, including its failure to fund President Trump's border wall and its allocation of funds to organizations and initiatives that he deemed controversial. He emphasized the need for Republicans to resist what he described as "woke and weaponized government," urging his colleagues to prioritize border security by passing H.R. 2, a bill focused on strengthening the southern border.

The bill, as outlined by Mooney, includes provisions such as funding for the World Health Organization, the allocation of $200 million for a new FBI Headquarters, and research funding for gun control policy. Additionally, Mooney criticized the bill for not addressing issues such as defunding the Department of Defense's abortion travel policy, prohibiting funds for transgender surgeries, and curbing wasteful spending abroad.

In his statement, Mooney called on Senate Democrats to reconsider their support for the spending bill, warning against what he perceived as a continuation of excessive government spending. He emphasized the importance of conservative principles and urged his colleagues to reject what he labeled as another example of "Swamp spending."

As the debate over government spending continues, Rep. Mooney's dissenting vote serves as a reminder of the divisions within Congress regarding fiscal policies and priorities.
