The City of Morgantown will host its annual free 4th of July Celebration at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park on Thursday, July 4. The park will open to the public at 5 p.m., with the celebration beginning at the Ruby Amphitheater stage at 7 p.m.

Festivities will include a live performance, various food truck vendors, free face painting, and space for families to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

“We are excited to have another great 4th of July planned this year,” said Vincent Kitch, Director of Arts and Cultural Development. “I hope folks from across the region come to Morgantown for a day of patriotic unity and celebration, and to enjoy our awesome fireworks display too.”

The fireworks show, supplied by Little Big Shots, will be held at approximately 10:00 p.m., immediately following the musical performance. Attendees should be prepared for an influx of traffic in the downtown area due to the evening’s events.

This year, The Jukebox Band, a popular cover band based out of Pennsylvania, will perform during the event. The band's repertoire includes a mix of popular Rock-and-Roll, Hip Hop, Dance, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Funk, R&B, and Hair Metal covers spanning from the eighties to 2000s. The group previously performed during the 2023 Ruby Summer Concert Series as the opener for Thunderstruck, an AC/DC cover band.

In addition to musical performances by The Jukebox Band local talents Brittany Mann and Marisa Jagielo will be performing aerial acrobatics displays.

“I’m looking forward to a day filled with good food music and celebrations with friends and family. Thank you to all our sponsors that have worked with us to make these festivities as well as the Ruby Summer Concerts possible,” said Kitch.

Additional sponsors for the event include Monongalia County Commission and Visit Mountaineer Country CVB.

Another upcoming event that is free to the community is the annual Shakespeare in the Park performance which will take place on July 5 at 7:00 p.m. The group The Rustic Mechanicals West Virginia’s professional Shakespeare troupe will perform their rendition of "The Tempest."
