WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, the House of Representatives, with majority Democrat support, passed a thousand-page government funding bill for various departments. However, Congressman Alex X. Mooney took a stand against the funding bill, citing concerns over accountability and spending levels.
In his statement regarding his vote against the funding bill, Congressman Mooney expressed his dissatisfaction with the process and the outcomes of the negotiation. He stated, “Once again, Congress is passing a spending plan that was negotiated behind closed doors and fails to hold the Biden Administration accountable. This spending deal increases the bloated Biden spending levels that supercharged inflation.”
Furthermore, Congressman Mooney highlighted specific issues within the funding bill that he found problematic. He mentioned, “It doesn’t stop the Department of Justice from using your taxpayer dollars to witchhunt Biden’s political opponents.” Additionally, he raised concerns about provisions related to healthcare, stating, “And it continues to allow taxpayer funded abortions, transgender surgeries at the VA, and mail-order chemical abortions.”
The passage of the funding bill with Congressman Mooney's dissenting vote underscores the ongoing debates and disagreements within Congress regarding government spending and accountability.
