West Virginia University Police issued a Campus Warning following the report of a motor vehicle theft on Friday, September 26. The incident occurred in the Health Sciences area of campus, where a white 2012 GMC Sierra truck with Pennsylvania registration ZXP4905 was stolen from Lot 81 near the Pride Practice Facility. The vehicle, owned by an external company, was last seen at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 25. Investigators noted that the truck was left unlocked, with one window down and the keys placed in the visor.

University Police are actively searching for the vehicle and have asked anyone with information about its whereabouts to contact them at 304-293-3136 or submit tips through the LiveSafe app.

In response to this incident, university officials emphasized their commitment to campus safety and reminded students, faculty, and staff to secure their vehicles and follow recommended personal safety practices. “WVU is committed to providing a safe campus for the protection of the University community,” officials stated.

The University provided several safety tips for avoiding potential crime:
– Ask someone to check on unattended vehicles or residences.
– Always lock exterior doors when away or not monitoring them.
– Regularly inspect locks on doors and windows.
– Do not leave spare keys in accessible locations.
– Report lost keys or IDs immediately.
– Call 911 if you believe you are in danger or witness a potentially dangerous situation.
