Eight students from West Virginia University’s Class of 2025 have been recognized with the Order of Augusta, the university’s highest student honor. These students have excelled academically and contributed significantly to the campus and beyond.
Most honorees are part of the Honors College and maintained a 4.0 GPA while pursuing undergraduate degrees in various fields. They are described as critical thinkers ready to tackle global challenges and drive positive change.
The Order of Augusta recipients are among 49 students named WVU Foundation Outstanding Seniors, who will be celebrated at an event on May 16 in Elizabeth Moore Hall.
“Every year, I continue to be in awe of the WVU Outstanding Seniors,” said Dean of Students Corey Farris. “They have made incredible contributions to WVU, the state and the nation. As the top 1% of their graduating class, I have no doubt their futures are bright. We’ll continue to see great accomplishments that make our world better from these outstanding graduates.”
The honored students include Suraya Boggs from Spencer, Laasya Chennuru from Martinsburg, Gabrielle Frazier also from Martinsburg, Luke Hawranick from Fairmont, Charlie Long from Charleston, Isaac McCarthy from Gerrardstown, Mary Roush from Mason, and Christopher Smith from Point Pleasant.
The list of WVU Outstanding Seniors includes several members of the Honors College such as Emma Adams, Brianna Buccini, Mason Cantwell among others. Other notable seniors include Rahat Arefy and Rena Ben-Eliezer.
Established in 1995 for the WVU Foundation’s 40th anniversary, the Outstanding Senior award recognizes students for their achievements in scholarship, leadership, and service.
