West Virginia women’s tennis team falls to Iowa State in final road match

The West Virginia University women’s tennis team lost 4-2 to Iowa State on Sunday afternoon, April 5, in their final road match of the season.

The result matters for the Mountaineers as they look to finish their season strong and prepare for upcoming home matches. The defeat leaves West Virginia seeking improvement as they return home.

Iowa State secured the doubles point by winning on courts one and two, while West Virginia picked up a win on court three. In singles play, Laura Villanueva Morillo won her match in straight sets on court two, and Julie Bousseau followed with a 6-1, 7-5 victory on court three. However, Iowa State claimed the remaining singles matches to clinch the overall win. One singles match was left unfinished after Iowa State had secured victory.

The Mountaineers will next host No. 41 Houston at home on Friday, April 10. The first serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
