West Virginia University volleyball coach Jen Greeny announced on April 29 the addition of Sophia Fallah, a middle blocker from Aachen, Germany, who will join the Mountaineers in the fall of 2026.

The recruitment of Fallah is significant as she brings international experience to the team. Her background includes playing in top German leagues and representing her country at youth and junior levels.

“We are very excited to welcome Sophia to West Virginia Volleyball,” said Greeny. “Sophia brings a great deal of experience and competitiveness and we can’t wait for her to be a part of this team!”

Fallah most recently played with Ladies in Black Aachen in Germany’s first Bundesliga from 2023 to 2026. She helped her club reach the semifinals of the German Cup in 2025. Before that, she competed in both the second Bundesliga (2021–23) and third Bundesliga (2020–21), as well as spending four years with VCO Münster under coach Marc d’Andrea.

“I chose WVU because of its strong coaching staff and positive team culture, and I’m excited to be part of a program that combines high-level volleyball with academics,” Fallah said. “College volleyball is very different from the European game, and I’m ready to embrace the challenge and give everything I have every day. I can’t wait to compete in Hope Coliseum.”

Fallah has also been involved with Germany’s Youth and Junior National Team since her first nomination in 2018, competing at events such as the European Championships in 2019 and WEVZA Tournament in 2021.

The Mountaineers continue their efforts to strengthen their roster by recruiting players like Fallah who have international experience.
