The West Virginia University rowing team will host the Gold and Blue Regatta on April 3 at the WVU Boathouse in Morgantown, according to an announcement on April 2.

The annual intrasquad competition brings together members of the university’s rowing program for a series of races. The event is designed to showcase both experienced and newer athletes, with several race categories scheduled throughout the day.

Racing will begin at 11 a.m., with boats starting downstream of the Westover Bridge and finishing in front of the WVU Boathouse. The regatta will feature races over a 500-meter stretch of the Monongahela River, including events for fours and eights. The Blue team aims to secure its third consecutive victory this year.

Events include First- and Second-Years 8+, Open 4+, First- and Second-Year 4+, and Open 8+. The final event will see top rowers from both teams compete against each other. Spectators are encouraged to watch from near the boathouse area at 40 Donley Street, just off the Caperton Rail Trail.

Fans attending can participate in activities such as an Easter egg hunt, a photo booth celebrating “25 Years of Rowing,” as well as enjoy giveaway packages, free posters, schedule magnets, and yard games around the boathouse. Parking is available at Waterfront Place Parking Garage located at 72 Warren Street.

The regatta highlights community engagement opportunities while providing Mountaineer rowers with competitive experience ahead of future events.
