The West Virginia University rowing team will close its regular season at the Duquesne Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to a May 1 announcement.

The event marks the final opportunity for the Mountaineers to compete before postseason events. Racing is scheduled to take place at Washington’s Landing, with crews aligning at the bottom of the island and finishing near either the 16th Street Bridge or Veterans Bridge.

West Virginia will face teams from Canisius, Duquesne, Robert Morris, and Toledo. The Mountaineers previously raced against Robert Morris and Canisius earlier this season during the Knecht Cup Regatta. WVU will field entries in several categories: first varsity eight (1V8), second varsity eight (2V8), first varsity four (1V4), second varsity four (2V4), third varsity eight (3V8), and third varsity four (3V4). Competition is set to begin at 10 a.m.

Spectators are encouraged to watch from various vantage points along the riverbank, on the 16th Street Bridge, or from a pedestrian bridge located at the bottom of Washington’s Landing. Parking options include legal spots along River Avenue for riverbank viewing and street or garage parking in Pittsburgh’s Strip District for access to the bridge starting at Penn Avenue and 16th Street. For those wishing to use the pedestrian bridge or access areas near the start line, parking is available in a designated lot upon entering Washington’s Landing; however, fans are advised not to park in neighborhood areas or in lots reserved for Redfin Blues restaurant patrons due to risk of ticketing or towing.

Organizers note that while parking near Washington’s Landing offers convenience and less stress compared with other options, it provides limited viewing since spectators would be positioned behind where races begin.
