West Virginia University rowing team to compete at Knecht Cup Regatta April 11-12

The West Virginia University rowing team will participate in the Knecht Cup Regatta on April 11-12 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The event will be held on the Cooper River and includes teams such as Boston, Boston College, Bryant, Bucknell, Canisius, Colgate, Connecticut, Delaware, Drexel, Eastern Michigan, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical, Fairfield, George Mason, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Iona, Jacksonville, La Salle, Lehigh, MIT, Marist, Massachusetts (UMass), Mercyhurst, Merrimack, Monmouth, Radcliffe College crew (Harvard women), Robert Morris University (RMU), Sacred Heart University (SHU), Saint Joseph’s University (SJU), Temple University Owls Women’s Rowing Team (Temple Owls WRT), Thomas Jefferson University Rams Rowing Club Women’s Team – TJURCWT; UAlbany Great Danes Women’s Crew Club – UAGDWCC; Villanova Wildcats WCWRC & Wisconsin Badgers.

This regatta marks the second time this season that West Virginia has competed against Boston College Eagles BCER; Drexel Dragons DDERs; Jacksonville Dolphins JDWRTCJAXDolphinsRCWC ; Massachusetts Minutewomen MMUTWR & UAlbany Great Danes again.

Racing starts Saturday with heats for various boat classes including WVU’s entries in the first varsity eight (1V8), second varsity eight (2V8), first varsity four (1V4) and third varsity eight (3V8). Additionally there are three Mountaineer boats entered in the second varsity four category. The heats for these races begin at intervals from 10:04 a.m., with semifinals scheduled later in the day. Semifinal action continues Sunday morning before Grand and Petite Finals start at 8:12 a.m.

Spectators can view races from Cooper River Park along North Park Drive or find additional parking at Cooper River Yacht Club on South Park Drive. Organizers have provided more information about the regatta and live results through official channels.

West Virginia baseball defeats TCU 6-4 in regular season finale

West Virginia University’s baseball team rallied late to defeat Texas Christian University (TCU) by a score of 6-4 at Kendrick Family Ballpark. The Mountaineers finished their regular season strong ahead of entering postseason play as No. 2 seed in next week’s Big 12 Tournament.
