West Virginia University women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg announced on Apr. 20 the signing of Skylar Forbes to a grant-in-aid for the 2026-27 academic year.
Forbes, a 6-foot-3 forward from Markham, Ontario, Canada, joins West Virginia after three seasons at Marquette with one season of eligibility remaining. Kellogg said, “Skylar is a versatile and experienced player who has proven herself at a high level. She impacts the game in multiple ways and is motivated to continue developing. She fits exactly what we’re building here at West Virginia, and we’re excited to add her to our program.”
During her collegiate career so far, Forbes has scored 1,075 points with an average of 11.8 points per game and collected 446 rebounds (4.9 per game). She also recorded 156 assists, 88 steals, and 138 blocks over her three seasons.
In her most recent season at Marquette, Forbes was named to both the All-Big East Conference First Team and Defensive Team. She ranked fourth in scoring within the conference with an average of 15.5 points per game and led the league in blocks for two consecutive years with an average of 1.81 per game.
Forbes’ achievements include being named conference player of the week once and earning six mentions on the Big East Weekly Honor Roll last season alone. In high school at Bond Academy and Scarborough Prep in Toronto, she was recognized as a Juel League First Team All-Star as both junior and senior as well as MVP of the Juel League All-Star Game in 2023.
Looking ahead to her time at West Virginia University, Forbes plans to major in criminology.
