The No. 20 West Virginia University baseball team will host Brigham Young University for a three-game series from March 19 to March 21, according to a March 18 announcement. The games are scheduled at Kendrick Family Ballpark in Morgantown, with first pitches set for Thursday at 4:30 p.m., Friday at 2 p.m., and Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

This series marks an important matchup in Big 12 Conference play as West Virginia looks to build on its strong start to the season. The Mountaineers currently hold a record of 13-4 and are ranked in every major poll after winning two out of three games against Baylor last weekend.

Tickets for the games can be purchased online, by phone, or in person at the Mountaineer Ticket Office. Students with a WVU ID can attend for free. Fans have multiple options to follow the action, including live broadcasts on ESPN+, radio coverage via the Mountaineer Sports Network, and live statistics available on WVUsports.com.

Special promotions are planned throughout the series. Thursday’s game is designated as Coal Rush night, with fans encouraged to wear black while the team debuts its black uniforms this season. The first 500 attendees will receive a Coal Rush jersey towel. Friday’s game will feature a happy hour with half-price drinks from gate opening until first pitch.

Key players for West Virginia include sophomore Gavin Kelly, who leads the team with a .423 batting average and tops the Big 12 with ten doubles; senior Paul Schoenfeld, who has recorded a team-high twenty-three runs batted in and ten stolen bases; and senior Matthew Graveline, who has hit four home runs so far this season. Redshirt junior Maxx Yehl was recently recognized as Big 12 Pitcher of the Week and NCBWA Co-Pitcher of the Week after throwing eight scoreless innings with twelve strikeouts against Baylor.

BYU enters the series under fifth-year head coach Trent Pratt with an overall record of ten wins and nine losses (2-1 in conference play). In preseason polling by coaches, BYU was picked thirteenth in the Big 12 but recently secured a series win over Cincinnati and defeated Utah Tech midweek. Ezra McNaughton leads BYU hitters with a .407 average and seven home runs, while Ashton Johnston has posted a team-best earned run average of 3.10 across eight relief appearances.

Pitching matchups announced include Dawson Montesa versus Garrison Sumner on Thursday, Chansen Cole versus Thomas Santana on Friday, and Maxx Yehl facing an undecided BYU starter on Saturday.
