The West Virginia University men’s basketball team will begin the 2026-27 season on Nov. 2 with a game against Niagara at Hope Coliseum, according to an April 10 announcement from the university.

This matchup marks the seventh meeting between West Virginia and Niagara, and it is the first time they will play since 1952. All previous games in this series were held in Buffalo, New York, with their first contest dating back to Feb. 20, 1918.

Fans interested in attending games at Hope Coliseum can participate in seat selection for the upcoming season during June. The process allows supporters a chance to secure lower-level seating through a priority point ranking system managed by the Mountaineer Athletic Club. Seat and parking adjustments are scheduled from June 1-10, providing an opportunity for new season ticket holders to select available options based on their priority ranking.

Priority points for fans will be finalized on May 1, after which each participant will receive an appointment time assigned according to their rank. Those who did not hold season tickets for the previous year but wish to take part must complete a request form by April 13.

Last season, under coach Ross Hodge’s leadership in his first year at Morgantown, West Virginia won 21 games and secured the College Basketball Crown. Hodge became only the fourth coach in program history to achieve more than twenty wins during his debut season.
