The West Virginia University golf team finished the first day of play at the Big 12 Golf Championship on Apr. 27, according to a university announcement.
The event took place at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. The competition marks an important test for the Mountaineers as they face other teams in the conference over multiple rounds.
Senior Westy McCabe led West Virginia with scores of 72 and 71, placing him at +3 and in 33rd position after two rounds. Jack Michael recorded rounds of 75 and 73 for a total of +8. Ryan Leach finished with scores of 77 and 72 (+9), while Kaleb Wilson (80-71) and Nick Turowski (74-77) are both at +11.
After completing two rounds with team scores of 298 and 287, West Virginia stands in sixteenth place overall with a combined score of +25 through the first day’s play.
The third round is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, followed by the fourth and final round starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
