The baseball game between No. 12 West Virginia and Cincinnati was suspended on April 24 in the bottom of the 12th inning because of rain, with the score tied at 5-5. The teams are scheduled to resume play on Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by their regularly scheduled matchup.

The suspension came after a closely contested game that saw several lead changes. Sophomore Gavin Kelly opened scoring for West Virginia with a two-run home run in the first inning, marking his sixth home run of the season. Senior Ben Lumsden contributed two runs batted in, while senior Paul Schoenfeld added two hits and an RBI.

Graduate student Ian Korn started on the mound for West Virginia, pitching four scoreless innings before Cincinnati scored four runs in the fifth to take their first lead. In the eighth inning, Lumsden delivered a pinch-hit single with two outs to tie the game once again. However, Cincinnati responded with a solo home run in their half of the eighth.

Schoenfeld then drove in another tying run for West Virginia with a pop-fly single in the ninth inning. Graduate student Reese Bassinger kept Cincinnati off the scoreboard through three extra innings before play was halted during his appearance against Charlie Niehaus.

Both teams will look to break the deadlock when play resumes Saturday afternoon.
