Died November 22, 2005 in Morgantown

He died on November 22, 2005 in Morgantown, West Virginia. His death closed the chapter on a record of consistency. He never missed a game from high school through the pros. He won eight professional titles and played 11 championship games. He anchored the Cleveland Browns and won titles with Detroit. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. His number was retired by his college in 2005. A bridge in Huntington was renamed in his honor in 2006
