West Virginia University's Board of Governors is progressing in its search for a new university president. Dr. Patrice Harris, Vice-Chair and Chair of the Presidential Search Committee, updated the WVU community following a special meeting held on January 31.

In her communication, Dr. Harris stated that "the Board of Governors held a special meeting to review a slate of top candidates to interview in person." She emphasized that these finalists are from various parts of the country and possess substantial leadership experience.

Dr. Harris expressed her privilege in leading the search committee, noting the significant interest in the position from a diverse pool of candidates. She highlighted the importance of finding "our next President who can lead with the right balance of strength and humility to manifest a positive, compelling vision for our University’s and our state’s future."

The search process remains on schedule, with an announcement expected this spring regarding WVU's 27th President. The new leader will soon be welcomed into what Dr. Harris referred to as the Mountaineer family.

Acknowledging contributions from various stakeholders throughout this process, Dr. Harris extended gratitude towards faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members for their participation. Their involvement included attending listening sessions or virtual meetings organized by the Alumni Association and providing feedback through surveys or direct messages to WittKieffer.

For more information on the presidential search process, updates can be found on WVU's Presidential Search website and other university news outlets such as WVUToday and MOUNTAINEER E-News. Queries or comments about the search can be directed to WVUPresident@wittkieffer.com.

Dr. Harris concluded by thanking everyone involved for their trust and support during this pivotal time for West Virginia University.
