WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Alex X. Mooney has taken a firm stance on government funding, stating that he will not support any funding measures until the border is secure. Congressman Mooney's decision comes as he voted against the latest Continuing Resolution, which passed with overwhelming Democrat support and extended the government funding deadlines to March.

In joining Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) in his opposition to funding the government, Congressman Mooney emphasized the need for border security. He pointed out the alarming numbers of illegal crossings and encounters with illegal aliens in recent years, highlighting the urgency of the situation. Congressman Mooney stated, "Customs and Border Patrol encountered a stunning 3.2 million illegal aliens in 2023, and just today there have been 5,000 illegal crossings at the Southern Border. This is a crisis."

To address this crisis, Congressman Mooney highlighted the House's passage of the Secure our Border Act and called on the Senate to take action. He made it clear that he would not support any government funding deal that does not prioritize the security of the border.

As the debate on government funding continues, Congressman Mooney's stance underscores the importance of addressing border security. His refusal to fund the government without securing the border reflects the concerns of many Americans who believe that border security should be a top priority.
