8.5% of Preston County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Preston County recorded an unemployment rate of 8.5% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 1,258 people out of the 34,266 living in Preston County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Preston County has decreased compared to the 9.1% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Preston County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.4%.

Of the 13,547 people who had a job during that time, 6 were employed in the Armed Forces and 13,541 belonged to the civilian labor force.
