Women’s Basketball 2022-23 Season wrap-up

The Alderson Broaddus Women's Basketball team wrapped up their season on February 25th against Notre Dame College. They lost their final match to the falcons 74-66. The team finished the season with a 5-22 record and a 4-18 conference record.

In the off-season, Ta-Rel Franklin was named the head coach for the Alderson Broaddus Women's basketball team. Coach Franklin was previously an assistant coach for the men's team for three seasons. Coach Franklin's hard work and dedication to the Women's Basketball team were clear to anyone who got to know him or watch him coach this season. He will look to build off of this season for the 2023-24 season.

The team was forced to deal with many obstacles and challenges throughout the 2022-23 season. The team saw a multitude of injuries and by the end of the season, they were playing with only one person coming off of the bench. In the final game of the season, the Battlers were down to 4 players on the court after an injury and a player fouling out. The Battlers however never backed down and fought for every game.

"This season has been like no other. Our program has faced so much adversity and we continued to overcome it. I am extremely proud of our ladies. Our program's core values are integrity, accountability, respect, and toughness and I truly believe our ladies displayed those core values this season." Said Coach Franklin

The Battlers were led on offense by All-MEC second-team selection, Iyahnna Williams. Williams led the team in PPG (17.7), Rebounds (195), Blocks (23), Steals (53), and assists (75). The team was also led by Hannah Taylor (12.7 ppg) and Amil Mitchell (11.5 ppg) on offense.
