Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks, known as the “Mother of the Civil Rights Movement,” was a civil rights activist who refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She was already a well-established activist, and after a long day of work, she was not tired from work but rather tired of giving in. The bus driver demanded she gives up her seat for one of the white passengers, but she refused, leading to her arrest. This caused national outrage and a boycott of the municipal bus company, which sparked the civil rights movement. Today is her birthday, and we thank and honor her for her bravery and hard work in the civil rights movement.
