Cross Country Teams Prepare for NCAA Regional Championships November 19th

The Davis & Elkins Cross Country teams are set to compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships this Saturday, November 19th in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, hosted by Mansfield University.

Both the men's and women's teams, following up their strong MEC Championship performances, now head into the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships with the opportunity to race their way into the NCAA Cross Country National Championships.

In the 42-team Atlantic Region, the men's cross country team enters the regional championships ranked 5th in the region while the women enter ranked 8th.

The top 3 finishing teams at the regional championships will automatically qualify for the national championships to be hosted in Seattle, Washington at Chambers Bay Golf Course.

In 2019, both the men and women made program history becoming the first cross country teams in D&E history to make the NCAA Championships. After the canceled 2020 fall season due to COVID, the 2021 season saw the D&E men finish 6th (1-point from 5th) in the region and the women finish 8th. The 2019 and 2021 seasons were the only regional top 10 appearances for the Senators Cross Country programs since entering the NCAA D2 level in the mid-1990's.

This 2022 season has seen many program records with Emeric Arnaud setting an all-time program best time in the 8K with his 23:56 run at the Paul Short Invitational. That meet included other program bests for the men, including the most sub 26-minute performances in one race and the fastest team average in program history.
