AB Cross Country Races at Carnegie Mellon

The Alderson Broaddus Cross Country Teams competed at the Carnegie Mellon Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Four runners competed for both the Men's and Women's teams at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh. Alexander Cockerham led the men while Layla James paced the women.

The AB men were led by Freshman Alexander Cockerham finishing in 95th overall with a new PR time of 30:01. Sophmore Shelton Bass followed for the men's team after passing Freshman Nathan Jacobs at the line, with an 8K time of 33:35.4, followed by Jacobs' 33:35.5. F Freshman Jonathan Nagalo finished fourth for the Battlers with a time of 40:29.

For the women, Freshman Layla James led the AB runners with a 5K time of 20:40. James was the first MEC finisher overall. Following James for the women was Freshman Adra Schell, who finished in 88th place overall with a time of 22:06. Schell was the second MEC finisher at the meet. Freshman Trinity Bumbry finished third for the Battlers with a time of 22:38. Senior Justice Washington was the fourth Battler to finish with a time of 23:01. All of the women times were faster than those ran at the same meet last year by a signifcant amount. 

The Alderson Broaddus Cross Country Teams have one more regular season meet before they head to the conference championship. The Battlers will be back in action in two weeks at the Go Fast River Run, hosted by Lock Haven University. The women's 6k race will start at 2:00 PM, the men's race at 2:45 PM.
