Dr. Charlie W. Starr, Associate Professor of English at Alderson Broaddus University, attended a Tolkien retreat (ALEP: A Long Expected Party) at Shaker Village, south of Lexington, Kentucky, recently.
Dr. Starr spoke on three topics, “Tolkien’s Theory of Myth,” “The Friendship Between Tolkien and C.S. Lewis,” and a workshop on “How to write poetry life the Bards of Rohan.”
The Retreat also featured world-renowned Lewis/Tolkien scholar Devin Brown.
