The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced its 2021-22 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and NABC Honors Court. Davis & Elkins was one of over 300 programs earning team honors, while eight players were named to the Honors Court.
The NABC recognizes men's basketball programs that completed the 2021-22 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher with its Team Academic Excellence Award.
D&E led the Mountain East Conference with seven players honored by the NABC for individual academic honors. Juniors Jordan Alexander, Evan Busby, DJ Henderson, Cortney Walton, and Ryan Wickham and seniors Teemu Tumanoff and Patrick Wilburn were named to the NABC Honors Court; which includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2021-22 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Henderson, Wickham, and Wilburn were previously named to the All-MEC Academic Team (3.70-4.00). Joining the three on the All-MEC Academic Team were underclassmen Mohamed Chabaane, Tylan Hutchison, and Blake Meighen.
Alexander, Busby, Tumanoff, and Walton were previously named to the MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.25-3.69). Ben Gilliam joined the four on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
