Graduate student Sean Smith of the No. 15 West Virginia University baseball team was named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments, according to an April 13 announcement.

Smith earned this recognition after a strong week at the plate. Over four games, he recorded a .600 batting average, going 9-for-15 with four doubles, six runs batted in, and four runs scored as West Virginia went 3-1 against Marshall and Texas Tech. His performance included at least one hit in each game and a standout four-hit effort on Sunday against Texas Tech. Smith finished the week with an OPS of 1.514.

The Mountaineers are scheduled to play next on Wednesday, April 15, facing Penn State at Meritus Park in Hagerstown, Maryland. The first pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.

Smith’s achievement highlights his contribution to the team’s recent success and underscores his role as a key player during this stretch of games.
