West Virginia University men’s basketball coach Ross Hodge announced on April 28 the signing of Keonte Greybear, who will join the Mountaineers for the 2026-27 season.
Greybear is a freshman guard from Frisco, Texas, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 185 pounds. He comes to Morgantown from iSchool of Lewisville in Lewisville, Texas. Hodge said, “Keonte is a versatile guard with great scoring instincts and athleticism. He has been well coached throughout his prep career and has played with and against high level competition. He’s a high character student-athlete, and we are excited to add him to our Mountaineer basketball program.”
Greybear is ranked as a four-star recruit by ESPN and considered the 24th-best point guard in the country. During his time playing in the Grind Session, he averaged 19.9 points per game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 31 percent from three-point range.
Some highlights of Greybear’s recent performances include scoring 43 points with 12 rebounds in a win over Winston-Salem Christian (North Carolina), recording 29 points and four assists against West Oaks (Florida), and posting 27 points, five rebounds, and three steals versus Gillion Academy (Virginia). He was named to the All-Grind Session Team.
Greybear previously attended Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, as well as Emerson High School. He also played AAU basketball for MoKan Elite and was invited to participate in Nike Elite 100.
