Rep. Riley M. Moore, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, shared several posts on his Twitter account in early April 2026 reflecting on Christian observances and international religious concerns.
On April 2, 2026, Moore posted a biblical quotation related to Holy Thursday: “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you… For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.” He added, “Today we celebrate the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. A blessed Holy Thursday to all!”
The following day, April 3, Moore commented on public displays of remembrance for Good Friday: “Agreed. As we remember Christ the King’s passion and death, we should lower the flags to half staff in recognition of His great sacrifice. You can add me as a cosponsor.”
Later that same day, Moore addressed violence against Christians abroad: “As Christians in Nigeria continue to face brutal violence and death for their faith this Holy Week, I joined VAT Chairman @Robert_Aderholt in leading 19 of our colleagues in a statement condemning violence and persecution against Christians. We also reminded the Nigerian”.
Moore’s statements reflect ongoing concerns about religious freedom worldwide. According to human rights organizations and recent reports from governmental bodies such as the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), attacks targeting Christians in Nigeria have been persistent issues during major Christian holidays and throughout the year.
