Rep. Riley M. Moore calls attention to global Christian persecution and criticizes media response

Rep. Riley M. Moore, a U.S. Congressman, addressed concerns regarding religious persecution and recent violence against Christians in several posts on March 30, 2026.

In a post dated March 30, 2026, Moore stated, “Last week, I led a bipartisan group of lawmakers calling on President Trump to push for the release of imprisoned Pastor Ezra Jin Mingri. The CCP arrests Christians, shuts down churches, and subjects believers to surveillance for the ‘crime’ of practicing their Christian faith.”

Later that day, Moore criticized media coverage of attacks against Christians in Nigeria. On March 30, he posted: “This is disgusting. A new low, even for the @NYTimes. It’s been barely a day since Jos was rocked by this horrific attack by radical Islamic terrorists against peaceful Christians, and the Times couldn’t bother to ask for comment before running this anti-Christian hit.”

In another message posted minutes later on March 30, Moore expressed support for victims in Nigeria: “The body of Christ is bleeding this Holy Week. I stand in solidarity with Governor @CalebMutfwang and our Christian brothers and sisters in Nigeria.”

Pastor Ezra Jin Mingri has been detained by Chinese authorities as part of broader actions targeting unregistered churches and religious leaders within China.

The city of Jos in central Nigeria has experienced multiple violent incidents involving armed groups targeting religious communities over recent years.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang leads Plateau State in Nigeria and has publicly condemned attacks on civilians while calling for increased security measures.
