The No. 15 West Virginia University baseball team will face Marshall University in its last non-conference game of the season on May 5 at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston, with first pitch set for 6 p.m.

This matchup comes as the Mountaineers hold a record of 31-12 after a weekend sweep against Kansas State, where they outscored their opponent by a combined total of 29-7. Chansen Cole, a sophomore pitcher for West Virginia, threw a complete game on Saturday and was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. He will be matched against Marshall’s left-hander Landen Doll, who holds a record of two wins and three losses with an ERA of 6.82 over thirty-three innings pitched.

Marshall enters the contest with a season record of 21-26 after losing two out of three games at James Madison over the previous weekend. The Herd is led offensively by Evan Bottone, who has achieved a .376 batting average so far this year. Jackson Halter leads Marshall in home runs with seven and has driven in forty-three runs.
