West Virginia University women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg announced on Apr. 28 the addition of Marya Hudgins to a grant-in-aid for the 2026-27 academic year.

The announcement highlights the team’s efforts to strengthen its roster with experienced players as it prepares for future seasons. Hudgins, a guard from Aurora, Colorado, brings several years of collegiate basketball experience and notable achievements at both the college and high school levels.

“Marya is a versatile guard/forward with great instincts and a strong feel for the game,” Kellogg said. “She can knock down shots consistently, attack off the bounce with intensity, and get to the rim, while also bringing physicality and effort on the glass. Her positive spirit and competitive nature are exactly what we look for in our program, and we are thrilled that she’s a Mountaineer.”

Hudgins has played three seasons of collegiate basketball—two at Santa Clara University before transferring to Brigham Young University (BYU) for two more seasons—and has one season of eligibility remaining. She redshirted during the 2024-25 season due to injury but previously started in all seven games she appeared in that year at BYU before being sidelined by a knee injury. In her last full season at BYU, she started all 27 games, averaging career highs with 9.1 points per game and shooting 90 percent from the free throw line.

Her college career includes being named to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team during her time at Santa Clara, where she averaged over seven points per game across two seasons. In high school at Grandview High School in Colorado, Hudgins was part of state championship teams in both Colorado (2022) and Georgia (2019), earning multiple all-state honors.

Hudgins plans to major in communications while attending West Virginia University.
