Five members of the West Virginia University wrestling team were named Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association on Apr. 1.
The recognition highlights academic achievement among student-athletes in collegiate wrestling. The honor is considered significant for both individual athletes and the university’s program.
Redshirt junior Ian Bush, along with freshmen Gunner Andrick, Brock Kehler, Casen Roark, and Luke Satriano received the distinction. This marks Bush’s third time being named a Scholar All-American by the association, making him only the sixth Mountaineer to achieve this milestone. The team also achieved five or more Scholar All-Americans for a third consecutive year, which is a first in program history.
Under head coach Tim Flynn’s leadership over eight seasons, West Virginia has produced at least three Scholar All-Americans six times. Flynn has overseen consistent academic success alongside athletic performance within the wrestling program.
The continued recognition of multiple athletes as Scholar All-Americans reflects ongoing efforts to prioritize academics within collegiate athletics at West Virginia University.
