Fairmont State University’s Academy for the Arts announced on May 13 that tickets are now available for its production of Anastasia: The Musical – Youth Edition. Performances will be held at Wallman Hall Theater on May 15-16 and May 21-22 at 7:30 pm, with matinee shows on May 17 and May 23 at 2:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the Fairmont State Box Office in Wallman Hall.
The musical is based on work by Tony winners Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty, and Lynn Ahrens. It follows a young woman named Anya as she seeks to uncover her past while being pursued by a Soviet officer. Alongside companions, she travels from Russia to Paris in search of home, love, and family.
The show is directed by Shannon Yost and Elizabeth Wotring-Nelson with choreography by Desiree Sowards. Cast members include Grace Keener as Anya, Jamyson Posey as Dmitry, Kavon Newman as Vlad, Avery Moore as Dowager Empress, Jonathan DeMary as Count Leopold/Dmitry Understudy, Cole Miller as Tsar Nicholas II, Aslyn Sowards as Tsarina Alexandra, Scotlin Snell as Young Anastasia, Cylas Hawkins as Young Dmitry, Shayla Wotring as Teen Anastasia and others.
Featured dancers include Avery Moore, Ella Hatten, Shayla Wotring, Auria Smith, Aslyn Sowards, Alexa Wotring, Morgan Carter, Lile Sowards, Millie Vass and Arinn Messenger.
