West Virginia University volleyball coach Jen Greeny announced on Mar. 24 the addition of Eleanor Beavin as an assistant coach for the Mountaineers.

The appointment brings a new face to the coaching staff, with Beavin arriving after a notable playing career at the University of Kentucky and experience in player development. Her background is expected to strengthen training in passing and floor defense for the team.

Beavin, originally from Louisville, Kentucky, played as a defensive specialist and libero for Kentucky in the Southeastern Conference from 2021 to 2024. She graduated with a degree in journalism and a minor in coaching. During her collegiate career, she was named SEC Libero of the Year, earned All-SEC honors, received AVCA Southeast All-Region recognition, and recorded career totals of 1,492 digs and 119 service aces.

“We are very excited to have Eleanor join the West Virginia Volleyball family!” Greeny said. “As a proven winner, Eleanor brings a great deal of experience at the highest level. She will be critical in training our passing and floor defense, and we are thrilled to have her on staff.”

Beavin has experience with defensive training techniques, serve-receive development, and video analysis through Volleymetrics. Her coaching roles include positions with Lexington United Volleyball Club, All-American Volleyball Camps, and running summer camps at Kentucky where she led high school teams across various skill areas. Most recently she worked as Recruiting Coordinator and Program Manager at Alpha Performance Volleyball Club supporting athletes through college recruiting processes while managing clinics and events.

Her leadership extends beyond coaching duties; Beavin participated in SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee), attended leadership conferences such as the Kentucky Athletic Leadership Conference, and served on team leadership councils during her time at Kentucky.

With these experiences behind her, Beavin is set to contribute both on-court technical skills development and off-court program management for West Virginia’s volleyball program.
